FILLER DISSOLVING

Hyaluronidase, also known as Hyalase is the drug used to reverse the effects of Dermal Fillers. On occasion, problems may arise from using Dermal Fillers such as:

  • Asymmetry

  • Lumps

  • Delayed Onset Nodules (DONs)

  • Tyndall Effect

  • Overfilled area

  • Migration

In these cases, a client may wish to electively dissolve their filler. Hyaluronidase is used to dissolve any present filler - the effects of which are fairly instantaneous, but will continue to work after you have left the clinic.

During a Dermal Filler procedure, there is the possibility of a vascular occlusion occurring which means the blood flow inside the blood vessel has been restricted, resulting in lack of oxygen and nutrients to the tissue. Left untreated this can cause necrosis (tissue death). In this instance, the area would need to be dissolved as an act of emergency to avoid this escalation.

It is imperative you tell your injector if you are allergic to bee venom prior to having Dermal Fillers and Hyaluronidase procedures, as there are active ingredients that can cause anaphylaxis in the dissolving drug.

Dermal Filler can only be replaced in a dissolved area a minimum of 2 weeks following the procedure to allow time for the swelling and tissue to settle and avoid any new filler from incorrectly dissolving.
